Imphal, April 03: Following three days of protest sitting against the killing of Longjam Utamkumar by police commandos in civies at his own home at Keishamthong Longjam Leirak, the JAC Against the Brutal Killing of L Utamkumar has imposed an indefinite bandh along Mayai Lambi from 6 am today.

Consequent upon the bandh, markets and educational institutions located along the road remain closed today.

Since early morning JAC members and bandh supporters piled up boulders and poured out used lubricants to enforce the bandh.

However, at about 10 am, the bandh supporters were dispersed by a police team using tear gas shells.

This was followed by deployment of police and IRB personnel along the road.

Ultimately, vehicular traffic was restored along the road.

The corpse of Longjam Utamkumar still remains at RIMS mortuary unclaimed.
