Imphal, August 29 2009: Exchange of firing reportedly took place between security forces and suspected armed UGs today afternoon at Khamenlok located adjacent to Nongsum village under Lamlai Police Station of Imphal East district.

Police report said that exchange of firing broke out at around 4.30 pm between a combined team of Imphal East Police Commandos and Assam Rifles personnel and the suspected armed UGs.

However, there is no report of any casualties on either side.

Following the incident, all the men of Nongsum village reportedly fled to neighbouring villages.

Local sources said there is no sign of AR troops coming out from the site of the encounter even though police commandos had left.
