BJP flays Chidambaram of his irresponsible statements

Imphal, May 21 2010: The BJP, Manipur Pradesh today hit Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram for his "double standard" statement on the matter of Muivah's controversial visit in Manipur.

Chidambaram has once again created confusion when he said that he had given permission to the Muivah on his plan to visit Manipur contradicting his own statement that he had not given the permission, made earlier, president of state unit of BJP, Sh Shantikumar lamented.

Briefing to reporters at the party office at Nitaipat Chuthek, Shantikumar reacted to the latest statement of Chidambaram while giving interview to a news channel that he had given the permission to Muivah to visit Manipur with an intention to bring at the conclusive point of the GoI-NSCN (IM) talk.

The statement has once against confused the people of the state, he observed.

As Chidambaram is going on making irresponsible statements, Prime Minister, Dr Manmohon Singh should clarify the matter so that the confusion in the mind of the people be cleared, he demanded.

Observing that the planned visit of the Muivah to the state has created an unrest situation in the state when the people are at the limit of woe due to the prolong imposition of economic blockade on the highways.

When the situation of the state is critical, state Congress remaining silent without saying a single word is an unfortunate thing.

For the BJP, it has very clear that territorial boundary of the state will not be allowed to disturb at any cost, Shantikumar said insisting the state Congress leaders to go and know a clear-cut decision of the party leaders at New Delhi on Manipur integrity.

He also criticized the Central government for not keeping a view to the state even though the people of the state are at the limit of woe of non-availability of essential commodities due to economic blockade coupled with the stand-off on the visit of Muivah in the state.

Central executive member of BJP, Meinam Bhorot who also took part in the briefing alleged that the prevailing situation of the state is due failure on the part of the state Chief Minister, O Ibobi to keep his clear-cut stand on banning Muivah from entering the state.

He charged that Ibobi has given green signal of allowing Muivah entering the state in a consultative meeting held at New Delhi on April 28.His decision was later withdraw after state Cabinet in its one of the sitting on May 4 decided not to allow Muivah to enter the state.

Union ministry has intimated the state government to provide Z-category security protection as per the green signal given by the Chief Minister, he charged reiterating that Chief Minister did not gave his clear-cut stand on the matter at the Centre.

So far, none of the Chief Minister of the state had given commitment that state territorial boundary will not be allowed redrawn, he went on to charge observing that it will not bring any good result when the issue of the territorial integrity of the state be arose repeatedly.

He also appealed to the people in the valley not to impose counter blockade in response to the economic blockade and stop intimidating other people from the hills.
