Imphal, May 14 2009: In two separate incidents of gun violence, one non-local barber and a UG suspect have been shot dead.

Unidentified gunmen shot one non-local barber at Tera Khamnam Keithel, Soyam Leirak junction at about 6.50 pm today, informed a police source.

The deceased might be one Montu Thakur (24) s/o Ram Pratap from Regusarai district of Bihar.

He sustained fatal bullet injuries on the head and other parts of the body.

He was staying in a rented room at Soyam Leirak while his saloon is located at Khamnam Keithel.

On the other hand, one suspected cadre of KCP has been slain in a reported encounter with Imphal West commandos on the road leading to Lainingkhul from Langol Games Village under Lamphel police station at about 6.15 pm today.

The encounter ensued when the commando team, acting on a specific information, moved into the area.

While one UG suspect was slain in the encounter, three others managed to escape, informed the police source.

One 9 mm pistol, three live rounds, one magazine and one Chinese hand grenade was recovered from the slain individual.

The individual wore blue jean pants, black T-shirt and slippers.

The name "Hafizuddin" was found tattooed on the left hand.

He was wearing talisman around both wrists.
