Imphal, February 07 2010: The local people of Kakwa Lamdaibung has been confounded by the grenade attack of February 4 .

The grenade exploded at the home of one Loitongbam Lata Devi w/o L Tejmani of Kakwa Lamdaibung.

Speaking to media persons at Kakwa today, president of the Lamdaibung Social Welfare Club Thongbam Kendramani said that two unidentified youngsters came to the house of Lata around 20 days before the grenade attack.

The youngsters asked if the house belongs to Lata.

To this, one of Lata's daughter replied in the affirmative.

Then the youngsters threatened of violent activities in case the amount agreed with the 'elder' was not paid shortly.

They reassured themselves saying that it was contractor Lata's house and went away hurriedly.

All these stories came out after the grenade attack.

But Lata Devi is not a contractor and her husband is a mechanic who runs an automobile workshop, Kendramani said.

There is one Thongbam ongbi Lata Devi in the same locality.

She carried on contract works done by her contractor-husband Thongbam Imocha after his demise.

But Thongbam Lata maintained that there was no case of any monetary demand or threat from any UG group.

She said that she received no warning related to monetary demand from any quarter.

Saying that perpetrators of the grenade attack may come and see the damages done to her house by the grenade attack, Loitongbam Lata sought explanation for the perplexing attack.
