Imphal, October 04 2009: Unidentified gunmen shot at a teacher of Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) at around 6.30 pm at Dimdailong under Porompat police station today.

The injured teacher has been identified as Lalboi alias Solal Touthang (34) of Khupibung (T Joldanphai) of Senapati district.

He is currently staying in a rented room at New Lambulane.

The miscreants shot a bullet on the chest of Lalboi while he was partying with four-five friends.

While talking to reporters at RIMS Casualty Ward, the SSA teacher expressed suspicion that the unknown gunmen might be the cadres of a faction of an underground outfit.

His father, Jangkholen is the Chief of his village, Lalboi added.
