Imphal, May 26 2009: The proscribed KYKL has claimed responsibility for killing former Dean of Students' Welfare, MU, Prof Islamuddin inside MU campus yesterday.

A press release issued by the outfit publicity and research secretary Lanngamba Mangang said that Prof Islamuddin was given death penalty for his alleged unpardonable faults.

It was Prof Islamuddin's grievous faults that tarnished the image of Manipur University besides creating divisions among students, alleged the outfit.

The main culprit behind the serious disturbance caused to the academic atmosphere of Manipur University was Islamuddin, it asserted.

His faults and errors need not be mentioned again.

All his malpractices and faults can be established by looking into the issue surrounding the last MUSU election, Lanngamba said.

Making the issue complex and confusing, which at first was simple and could have been easily rectified, and telling lies to hoodwink people and to absolve himself from his wrong doings was the ploy of Prof Islamuddin, the outfit asserted.

Saying that a clique of some corrupt, selfish teachers and students have been operating within Manipur University, the outfit alleged that the primary objective of this clique is to make MU their private fiefdom.

The clique is well rooted and they exercise complete liberty in anomalous practices of high degree at times of appointment of teachers, promotion, admission of students, issuance of projects, contract works, supply etc.

Nowadays, it has become almost impossible to get promotion, recruitment, admission etc without the consent of the clique.

The issue surrounding the recent MUSU election was a result of the clique's attempt to prevent an emerging sincere leadership from taking the office of MUSU.

It was a part of their conspiracy aimed at keeping their position in Manipur University intact.

Although it appeared that the issue resulted from some mistakes of not so proficient young students, in reality, it was a conspiracy of high level, charged the outfit.

Prof Islamuddin was the principal actor behind the conspiracy, it alleged.

Reminding that it has repeatedly announced that no irregularity or malpractices would be allowed in educational institutions, particularly in Manipur University, the outfit asserted that Professors who should guide the society, ought not commit any misdeeds.

It also asked who should correct the flaws and malpractices prevalent in the society if the intellectuals who should shoulder this responsibility, engage in irregularities rather than redressing them.

Appealing to all concerned not to join the dirty MU clique, the outfit said that it would not rest until the university is fully corrected and the clique abolished.

Any one indulging in misdeeds and malpractices in MU would be corrected with harsh punishments.

As such, all those teachers and students comprising the clique will be awarded 'harsh punishment'.

The forbidden act committed within MU campus was a consequence of un-ethical activities of the clique in the same campus, it claimed.
