Ibobi invites NSCN(IM) leadership

Imphal, January 25: The majority community the Meitei living in Manipur should play an important role in safeguarding the territorial integrity of the state the Chief Minister O Ibobi today said after returning from New Delhi.

He expressed unhappiness over the incident which occurred during Gaan-Ngai and at Nagaram.

It was not a civilized act he said.

He further said during a football match foul language were used during a match with a team from Churachandpur.

Stop using derogatory words he said.

The delegation of political parties which went to Delhi had a series of discussions with central leaders from January 20 to 24 he said.

Series of discussions were held with the President Abdul Kalam, Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, Devi Gowda former PM, Sitaram yechury, CPM, Sonia Gandhi President AICC, Manmohan Singh, Sharat Yadav, Arun Shourie, Ambika Soni, JS Dhindsa Akali Dal, D Raja, CPI, Zoram Thanga CM, Mizoram, V P Singh former PM, ID Swamy, Khandelwal VP, BJP, Venkaya Naidu President BJP, PA Sangma NCP, IK Gujral former PM, George Fernandes and Subrarnaniam Swamy Janata Dal.

He had telephonic conversation with the Dy PM who had gone for a foreign tour.

A 15 member political delegation had gone to Delhi.

Ibobi said they met all the leaders so that the issue of Manipur could be apprised to the central leadership and to clarify the points which may have been wrongly interpreted by Muivah.

Ibobi was peeved with the provocative statement of Muivah.

It was pointed out that the tribals of Manipur identified as Nagas after 1963 only.

The geo-political situation of Manipur using maps was also addressed.

Not even an inch of land would be compromised he said.

He urged the NSCN(IM) leadership to come out in the open platform so that the issues involved could be discussed freely.

Whatever we can do we will do even if we have no food to eat he said.

He said he is ready to relinquish his chair also.

Emotional integration is needed he said.

During his visit to Tungjoy he found that there were no electric line in the village and he ordered the very next day to take transformers for electrification of the village.

The Naga leaders can tell their problems freely he said.

Wt are one he further said.

The talks are not at the Prime Ministerial level and the PM assured that he will never agree to the demand of NSCN (IM) for a Greater Nagaland he said.

During the discussion with the Prime Minister when Ibobi asked what message he should convey to the people of Manipur the Prime Minister said 'Jo bhi dena Chahate Ho" (Whatever message he wants to convey).

He had a long discussion with the Nagaland Chief Miniser SC Jamir he said.

During the meeting with Zoram Thanga who was next in command to Laldenga of MNF Thanga revealed that during the Mizo accord the MNF had demanded Greater Mizoram.

The MNF leadership had demanded Churachandpur district.

But the Indian officials never made any comment on the issue when other matters were discussed.

The situation is the same.

Other issues will be discussed but the issue of Greater Nagaland will not be the core issue.

There will be many problems everybody knows.

The constitutional requirements cannot be fulfilled in the case of Manipur Thanga said.

It is not the sole responsibility of the political parties but of the entire populace to safeguard the integrity of the state he said.

Every individual should give their stint and any suggestion is welcomed.
