Political delegation leaves for Delhi

Imphal, January 19: A 16-member Manipur delegation, headed by Chief Minister Ibobi Singh, today left for New Delhi to seek a clear-cut stand of the union government on the protection of state territory in view of the peace talks between the centre and NSCN (IM).

The team consist of O Ibobi CM, M Bhorot MLA President BJP, O Joy MLA President MPP, Ph Parijat Minister FCS President CPI, Dr L Chandramani President FPM, W Kulabidhu President JD (S), Kh Mani Singh President DRPP, M Shamu Singh Secy Manipur State CPM, S Tiken Singh President NCP, Md Munbur Rehman Sec Gen Samata Party, L Iboyaima Singh President Janata Party, M Ibobi Singh JD(U), Phungzathang Tonsing Minister Power MPCC, Gaikhangam Minister Works VP MPCC and N Biren MLA, DRPP.

Memorandum will be submitted to the central government to demand safeguard territorial integrity of Manipur.

The delegation would call on the Prime Minister and other central leaders, state Janata Party President Loitongbam Iboyaima Singh, who is a member of the delegation, told PTI.

Iboyaima Singh said according to tentative programme the delegation was likely to meet the Prime Minister on Tuesday, but the exact date would be known only after finalisation of appointment with the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).

The delegation followed widespread protests against any attempt to disintegrate Manipur territory in view of the peace talks in New Delhi.
