RPF penalises women drug user, peddler

Imphal, October 16: The Division-I of the proscribed RPF has penalised two women, one who abuses the drug while the other who peddles drug, by tonsuring their heads and later handed them over to their respective family members after giving proper advice against such indulges in future.

The two women identified as Buya Ongbi Cheisam Ningol Gulejan alias Ibemma (37) w/o Buya Faruqe alias Tahet of Irong Chesaba Mayai Leikai and Maibam Ongbi Yumnam Ningol Shila alias Angangcha (35) w/o Maibam Robindro of Mayang Imphal Mamang Leikai have been allegedly rounded up along with drugs from their possession by the Meira Paibis from Sekmaijin Thongam Leikai yesterday morning and later handed over to the RPF Division-I.Gulejan is said to be a drug peddler while Shila is an abuser.

5 grams of drugs have also been reportedly seized from their possession.

Parading them before mediapersons somewhere in Imphal West district, a spokesperson of the Division-I of the RPF said during the course of interrogation, it has been established that Gulejan went to Moreh along with one relative on August 19 last year and procured heroin powder measured with the help of the lid of Vicks container from one Sajaobi of Moreh Gate No..1They bought in all 6 such measures costing Rs 700 per measure and sold the same to various persons like Buya Habid (27) and Buya Allauddin (25) of Irong Chesaba Mayai Leikai, Nanao and Kanta of Mayang Imphal Bazar, Md Salam and Md Maingou of Mayang Imphal Bengoon, Md Amar and Md Rahman of Irong Chesaba Mathak Leikai and Md Ibomcha of Sekmaijin Bazar.

The spokesperson further said that Shila started picking up the drug habit from her husband who himself was earlier a drug addict and peddler.

The spokesperson said in view of their crimes against the society, both of them deserved to be given serious punishment.

But in consideration of the fact that they have little kids to look after, they would be led off after tonsuring their heads and stern warning against such activities in future.
