R K Dinesh, 25, the fourth child to RK Sanajaoba, former
Principal DM College of Science and RK ongbi S Nirmashachi, also ex-Principal,
DM College of Arts and Commerce and former Chairman of Council of Higher
Secondary Education, Manipur, hails from Thangmeiband Polem Leikai, Imphal.
Brought up in a strict and systematic family under high profile educational
background, and of course a very hard working, having esteem sense of
confidence, above all a believer of God, RK Dinesh, a handsome, very smart
and cool, had realized his dream of becoming an IAS officer at his tender
age. He got India's most prestigious and much coveted service, IAS by
securing 11th rank, that too at his first attempt. Really fascinating,
isn't it? He is now become a role model among the aspiring students of

bright young gonna be bureaucrat on the efforts he made for the sterling
achievement of him. Excerpts:
E-Pao: Please accept our heartiest congratulation
on your grand success in the Civil Services Examination.
R K Dinesh: Thanks a lot .
E-Pao: What is the secret of your success
in this examination by securing 11th position?
R K Dinesh: Hard work, planned and
systematic study, will power, consistency pay in a competition like the
Civil Services Examination. And, above all, luck, God's grace and the
consistent support which I got from my parents and relatives.
E-Pao: To whom would you like to attribute
this sterling achievement of yours?
R K Dinesh: I owe my success to the
blessings and cooperation of my parents and family members. They helped
me in terms of strengthening my will and enhancing my self-confidence.
I dedicate my success to them.
E-Pao: Three out of your five siblings had
took their successful career in Medical. What prompted you to choose Civil
Service as your career?
R K Dinesh: It provides a wider canvas
to work on and a better opportunity to serve my native state in particular
and the nation I belong in general coupled with power which enables one
to act more decisively in getting certain things done.
E-Pao: Had you not been selected in the
Civil Services Examination, what would have been your reaction? Which
other service/career would you have gone in/opted for?
R K Dinesh: Though it would have disappointed
me a little bit, but I would have tried again to achieve my goal since
this was my first attempt.
E-Pao: What were your optional at the Civil
Services Examinations?
R K Dinesh: Physics and Mathematics
E-Pao: How did you prepare for the examination?
R K Dinesh: Physics- I had done well
in my graduation at St. Stephen's College. So, I don't have to give much
time for it. Mathematics- as syllabus is very vast I opted for selective
study. I chose only those topics in which I had interest. For General
Studies I read a few numbers of books and magazines. Careful reading of
newspapers and clippings of quotations and other materials from newspapers
and magazines proved to be very useful.
E-Pao: Did you attend any coaching institute
for this examination?
R K Dinesh: For classroom coaching,
I attended Vaji Ram & Rao and Chanakya Institute for interview. I
also did a correspondence course for one year from Brilliant Tutorial
during 1997.
E-Pao: When did you start preparing for
this examination?
R K Dinesh: My initial preparation
was started during my graduation and sincere preparation was in 1998 after
appearing MSc exam.
E-Pao: Any comment on the prevailing academic
atmosphere here in the state? Few suggestions to purify too!
R K Dinesh: As I'm studying outside
the state since my schooldays, I hardly know the things going round here.
So, it would be my wrong impression to make any hard comment in this connection
although the atmosphere is not well so as to say.
E-Pao: What would be your first priority
as a civil servant, and where would you like to be posted?
R K Dinesh: As far as my posting is
concern, I had opted my native state as my first preference. As a civil
servant I would implement various government policies which assigned to
my part effectively.
E-Pao: What is your advice to the future
aspirants of Manipur?
R K Dinesh: Nothing is difficult. They
should work hard and take the exam in a cool fashion and above all, confidence
in her/his ability. It would be my pleasure if aspiring students approach
me to share my experience and guidelines. I keep the doors always open
for them.
E-Pao: Well, we the people of Manipur expect
