Two day Regional seminar on site specific farming options at ICAR Research complex Lamphel :: July 5-6 2012

Two day Regional seminar cum workshop on site specific farming options for disadvantaged areas under NAIP kick-starts today at ICAR Research complex Lamphel on 5th-6th July 2012. C.A. Worchuiyo IAS deputy commissioner of Tamenglong attended the function as chief guest, Dr.G.C.Munda co chairman of ICAR NEH region Umiam as guest of honour, and Dr SV Ngachan director ICAR NEH Umiam Meghalaya as president of the function.

ICAR Scientists and delegates from Mizoram, Meghalaya, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Sikkim and Manipur took part in the two day resourceful workshop.

Dr GC Munda giving the guest of honour address said that farmers had come to attend training unlike the past in Manipur and it is worth appreciating as it will help to communicate between scientist and farmers in the region for a better production and economic upliftment. He said that the oil processing mini machine which is under development will help the people living in remote area produce mustard oil from the kitchen garden and they need not come to the market for buying oil. He also said that money sanctioned by the govt. towards research should be spent judiciously which will in turn help to empower the rural people in terms of economy.
