MLA K Robindro extends monetary assistance to Russia-bound MMA athlete Bambam

Imphal, October 09 2023: Mayang Imphal AC MLA, Kongkham Robindro acted swiftly to help an MMA fighter who has been selected for the Mixed Martial Arts World Cup to be held in Russia in December.

Professional MMA fighter Thounaojam (21) from Top Mayai Leikai in Imphal East district had earned a berth for the world event but his participation had remained doubtful owing to his unsound financial condition which was circulated recently on social media platforms and local cable TV channels.

Upon receiving the information, the MLA of the Mayang Imphal AC Kongkham Robindro invited the MMA fighter in need to his official quarter at Babupara today and assisted him with Rs 50,000 and encouraged him to perform well at the world event due to be held from December 2 to 3 .

Bambam has participated and achieved many top positions in National level MMA competitions including IMMAF Championship, GAMMA India Championship, ICL Championship etc.

He had received invitations to international competitions earlier but had to miss them due to financial constraints.

However, he is positive to participate in the Mixed Martial Arts World Cup this time courtesy of generous assistance from various sports enthusiasts, he said.

The noteworthy aid extended by the MLA of Mayang Imphal AC will help him greatly in his trip to Russia, Bambam who competes in flyweight category said while extending gratitude to MLA and other generous donors for the help.

He also sought blessings from all to help him achieve big at the Russia event.
