2nd Manipur Open Chess S Premjit Singh claims title

Imphal, October 31 2016: S Premjit Singh has claimed the title of the 2nd Manipur Open Chess tournament 2016 organised by Manipur Chess Association at Kangsang, Khuman Lampak Sports complex.

A total of 120 chess players, including those from outside the State, took part in the tournament held from Oct 23 .

The closing cum prize distribution ceremony of the tournament today was attended by former Union Minister and State BJP leader Th Chaoba,; VP of Manipur Chess Association K Subhaschandra; Consultant to the Govt of Manipur RK Nimai and Retd Dy Director, Sports, MU Ksh Jugeshwar as the dignitaries.

Title winner S Premjit was presented Rs 50,000, a trophy and certificate.

Kh Sanjoy and G Inao Sharma came second and third respectively.

Other prize winners included A Pholen (best unrated-Manipur), Manish S Prasad (best unrated-outside) H Maniton (best veteran), Saveson Keishing (best hills), Melson Yumnam (best boy's) and Y Yaisana (best girl's) .

Consolation prizes of Rs 1000 each were also presented to two differently abled participants— M Rajesh Singh and Md Hidyatulla.
