JCILPS pulls up 18 more non-local people, two found with fake ID card

Imphal, September 24 2016: Further enforcing their ban on entry of non-locals to the State, JCILPS pulled up 18 non-locals from North AOC and sent them back to Guwahati today.

JCILPS convenor BK Moirangcha said that after reaching Mao from Guwahati in an inter-State night super bus belonging to Siroy Travels last night, the non-locals boarded an inter-district passenger bus and reached Imphal at around 10.30 am today.

They were detained by a team of JCILPS on reaching North AOC, he said and added that two non-local students of ITI, Takyelpat who came in the same bus were freed after verification.

Later, two persons, who are said to be the diesel dealers for Simplex Company came to JCILPS office and claimed that the non-locals were from Assam's Bongaigaon district and they came to the State to work as labourers in the construction of a bridge at Tamenglong under the company.

As a ban on entry of nonlocals is currently in force, BK Moirangcha said all the 18 non-locals would be sent back to Guwahati in a Tata Winger.

He said that after the nonlocals reach Dimapur, JCILPS would communicate with the transport agency concerned to know whether they had proceeded for Guwahati.

Of the 18 non-locals, one of them was a 13-year-old boy, BK Moirangcha said and added that five of the nonlocals were found carrying Xerox identity proof cards and two of them had fake identity cards.

BK Moirangcha said that they had banned Siroy Travels for one month for bringing in non-locals despite the ban.

JCILPS volunteers had earlier carried out a drive to check whether the non-locals who entered the State possessed valid identity proof documents, BK Moirangchasaid.

However, this time the committee would send back all the non-locals except Government servants and students to their respective States as a complete ban is currently in force, he said.

Maintaining that the ban is not an anti-non-local or anti-India move, BK Moirangcha said that JCILPS is simply pressing the State Government to pass a new ILPS Bill.

The JCILPS convenor urged the public to extend co-operation and support to the ongoing movement so that indigenous people of the State are protected.

BK Moirangcha asked Simplex Company to send a responsible official to JCILPS office to settle the issue tomorrow.

He said that they would be compelled to ban the private company in the State if they fail to turn up tomorrow.

It may be mentioned around 80 non-locals had been pulled up so far after JCILPS imposed a ban on entry of non-locals to the State with effect from September 23 .
