15 yr old raped, brutalised at Senapati

Senapati, August 02 2017:
In a gruesome incident, a minor girl studying in Class 9 (15 years old) is suspected to have been raped with the suspected rapist attempting to kill and silence her at about 5 pm yesterday at Viewland Colony, Senapati district headquarters .
According to reports, the incident occurred near a stream at Viewland colony where she had gone to wash clothes and take a bath with her younger sister during noon time .
It is reported that the victim's younger sister left for home early and the victim was alone washing clothes.
Since the victim didn't turn up even in the evening, her parents grew concerned and sent their younger child to look for her sister .
When her sister went to the stream in search of the sister (victim), she was found in an unconscious state, bleeding from her head, bruises on her face and half naked.
On receipt of the news, the victim's parents and relative rushed to the spot and she was brought to the district hospital from where she was referred to RIMS hospital due to her critical condition.
She was later admitted to Raj Medicity .
Senapati police was also instantly informed after the incident came to light and they rushed to the spot and conducted an inquest of the area .
An FIR has been lodged under section 307/376/326/354/34 of IPC and 4 POCSO Act, 2012.However, not a single accused has been pulled up till the time of filing this report.
Investigation is on to book the culprit .
According to a source, the condition of the victim has improved today after necessary medication but the victim is still reportedly in ICU .
Faumei Gonglin, SP of Senapati police said that efforts are being made to find the accused and added that the culprit will be booked and awarded befitting punishment as per the law.
The officer appealed for cooperation and support from all in nabbing the culprit and bringing him to justice .
The board, teaching staff and students of the victim's school have strongly condemned the act and termed it as an "uncivilized and barbaric act" .
