Imphal, August 06 2017:
Two different JACs formed in connection with the suspicious deaths of two housewives in two different cases have demanded justice and punishment of the culprits .
Addressing a press meet today at Manipur Press Club, biological family members and JAC against the death of one Leishangthem (N) Thounaojam (o) Bedamani w/o Th Hemanta of Koutruk Maning Leikai strongly raised foul play over the death of the woman .
The JAC and family members alleged that Bedamani was 'murdered' by her husband in the evening of August 4 after she reportedly raised strong disapproval when he sent their minor child to get liquor for him .
Premjit, elder brother of the deceased woman said Hemanta and Bedamani were married for about 15 years and have three children .
On the fateful day, the family members of Bedamani were informed that she had died after consuming poison .
On getting the news, the family members went to the couple's place.
Surprisingly, Hemanta, the husband of Bedamani, was not found in the house.
He reportedly fled from the place and police are yet to find him, he said .
Premjit further said that on the basis of information provided by the minor daughter of the deceased, Hemanta came home with his friend who is only identified as Hemam on Aug 4 at around 5 pm.
Hemanta asked their minor daughter to get liquor for him and his friend to which his wife raised strong opposition .
Furious over the opposition of his wife, Hemanta allegedly kicked her.
She fell and got injured on her head.
Later, both the mother and minor daughter went to get liquor.
On their way, Bedamani informed about her head injury to her brother .
When the mother and daughter returned home after getting the liquor, they were locked in a room by Hemanta .
Few moments later, the daughter came to know that her mother was dead .
Konthoujam Anandi, member of Khabam Bamdiyar Apunba Meira Paibi said that a memorandum was submitted to the Deputy CM yesterday raising strong suspicion that Bedamani was murdered by her husband .
She urged the authority concerned to ensure speedy trial and justice be delivered at the earliest .
Asserting that the body of the deceased would not be claimed until the demands of the JAC are met, Anandi also sought the support of all civil society organisations in finding justice .
Meanwhile, members of family and JAC against the unnatural death of Sapam (N) Thounaojam (o) Sumila alias Ichan, Wangkhei Ayangpalli Leima Keithel have demanded justice over the death without any delay .
Speaking to reporters at Manipur Press Club today, Sanathoi, younger sister of the deceased said her sister married Jiban of Utlou some four years back.
The woman was said to be eight months pregnant when she died yesterday .
Due to frequent mental harassment, Sumila used to stay at her parental home at Wangkhei Ayangpalli Leima Keithel before she went to her in-laws home at Utlou two months back .
Sanathoi further said that she was informed through mobile phone yesterday around 4.15 pm that her sister was admitted to RIMS hospital due to food poisoning .
She immediately set out for RIMS and just before reaching the hospital, she got another call informing that her sister was taken to Shija Hospital as her condition worsened.
Not long after Sanathoi reached Shija Hospital, her sister breathed her last .
The family as well as the JAC members have raised strong suspicion over the death of Sumila and demanded immediate justice .
Yumkhaibam Mema, president of Imphal East Meira Lup was also present at the press meet .
Post mortem was conducted yesterday at RIMS .
