Imphal, October 26 2016:
Condem-nations continue to pour in against the attack on the Chief Minister and his team when they had gone to Ukhrul to inaugurate a number of projects on October 24 .
Coming out strongly against the attack, the Thangmeiband Block Congress Committee today said that the attack was heinous as the Chief Minister, the Deputy Chief Minister and others had gone there to inaugurate projects which will benefit the people of Ukhrul.
The Committee appealed to all not to repeat such acts in future to uphold the spirit of unity of the people.
The Oinam Block Congress Committee has also strongly condemned the attack.
The violence and the fact that the high level team was forbidden from inaugurating the development projects means that the anti-social elements do not want to bring development for the people of Ukhrul, it said in a statement.
The Uripok Block Congress Committee has also strongly condemned the attack.
Taking strong note of the firing at the CM and his team, the boycott call as well as the injury inflicted on two security personnel and the torching of two vehicles, the Committee said that this is ample proof that some elements do not want to bring development for the people of Ukhrul.
The CPI (ML), Manipur State Committee has also come out strongly against the Ukhrul incident and added that if there had been fatalities in the attack, it is only Manipur which would lose.
The Union Home Ministry and the State Home Department should leave no stone unturned to ensure that such an incident does not recur in the future.
It was also a glaring example of how the intelligence network of the security forces has failed miserably.
The Block Congress Committee and the Ningthoukhong Municipal Council have also strongly condemned the Ukhrul attack.
A sit-in protest was also held against the attack on the CM and his team at Ikop Ningthou Laikon under Khangabok AC in Thoubal district today.
The Thoubal district Congress Committee, Thoubal district Mahila Congress Committee, Thoubal district Youth Congress Committee and Thoubal district Seva Dal have also come out strongly against the attack.
The Sadar Hills District Congress Committee (SHDCC) has also condemned in the strongest term the attack on the Chief Minister and his team at Ukhrul and termed it an act of 'terrorists' .
Attacking the Chief Minister is akin to attacking all the people of Manipur, said SHDCC.
