Imphal, December 08 2016:
United Naga Council (UNC) president Gaidon Kamei has said that they would consult the people before lifting the economic blockade as the decision to adopt economic blockade was a collective decision.
Speaking to reporters after he was brought out from the Court room of CJM Imphal East along with publicity secretary Shankhel Stephen, Gaidon Kamei said that they would first consult the peoples before taking any decision on lifting the economic blockade.
Gaidon said that if he says something at the moment and if the people fail to understand his request, then it may create other problems.
Nonetheless he acknowledged that the people of the State have been suffering a lot and he is trying hard to talk with his 'friends' .
He also said that Sadar Hills is a very sensitive issue because four/five agreements were signed with the Government.
Gaidon Kamei urged the State Government to take all sections of people into confidence before taking any decision on issues like creation of new district.
He also said that if it is purely for administrative convenience, then there should be enough room for adjustments.
It is the people's wish and aspirations that the Government of Manipur be competent enough to handle the myriad issues.
The UNC president also stated that before his detention he had requested all their units, both in the hills and valley not to create any kind of communal tension but to focus on the core issue so that it was not side-tracked.
He added that their only demand was a clarification from the State Government on the issue.
