The Tangkhul Naga Long, under the aegis of the United Naga Council, today imposed a lightning 12 hour total shut down in Ukhrul town to prohibit presiding officers from attending the day long election training programme scheduled to be held at Town Hall, Phungreitang, Ukhrul.
Ahead of the scheduled programme, the TNL deployed hundreds of volunteers in and around the town area and placed burning tyres in the middle of the road to restrict vehicular movements on the roads.
Following the lightning 12 hours shut down, Ukhrul town wore a deserted look with all commercial establishments downing shutters.

Election should be conducted only after these demands are fulfilled, he added.
