Imphal, December 06: As a part of the forthnight long observation of Violence Against Women, a motor rally was taken out under the aegis of the Women Action for Development (WAD) in Imphal East district today.

The motor rally flagged off from Hatta Kangjeibung by director of Social Voluntary Training Centre Suren passed through Checkon, North AOC, Chingmeirong, Lamlong Bazar, Wangkhei, Kongba, Khongman, Singjamei and wound up at the office of WAD at Palace Compound.

At street corner publicity programmes organised at different spots along the route of the rally, WAD president M Subita spoke on violence against women.

She said that domestic violence against women is the most common though often ignored.

Domestic violence against women is also the cause of other forms of violence against women, asserted Subita.

She also called upon all women to fight violence against women collectively and to lodge complaints in police stations, Women Commission or the Human Rights Commission in the event of any crime or violence against women.
