National Girl Child Day celebrated

Bpr/Ukl, January 24 2023: The weeklong celebration of National Girl ChildDay which began on January 18 concluded today at DRDA Conference Hall, Mini Secretariat Hamleikhong, Ukhrul.

Speaking on the occasion, Shimreipam, DPO Ukhrul, stated that the main objective of celebrating National Girl Child Day in the district is to create equal opportunity in all spheres, without any discrimination to girls.

SDO LM Bock, A' Rohini Kumar dwelt on the need to empower women and for men & women to coordinate with each other and move forward for the betterment of all.

He mentioned that women empowerment may not necessarily be confined to education or any particular area but women should be given space in decision making according to their capabilities.

Rohini also distributed certificates of appreciation to local girls who excel in the field of sport and education.

Solimla Jajo was awarded for winning Silver medal in the recently concluded 13 th World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship & Annual Congress held at Phuket, Thailand while Chanri Kashung, AS Rinhor, Kharethan Kazingmei and Philangayung Kasom were honoured for securing good marks in HSLC Examination 2022 .

It may be mentioned that a number of events including Special Gram Sabha/Mahila Sabha, awareness programme on "Child protection & importance of skill development among girls", community meeting on Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) with religious leaders/ community leaders, plantation drive at Mini Secretariat Office premises, Ukhrul were organised during the weeklong celebration.

Anganwadi workers, Helpers from four blocks of Ukhrul (Ukhrul, Jessami, LM Block and Chingai Sub-Division) and local women leaders of Ukhrul took part in the celebration.

The celebration was organised by Ukhrul District Administration in collaboration with DPO, ICDS Cell, Ukhrul.

BISHNUPUR
District Administration Bishnupur in association with Integrated Child Development Scheme Cell Bishnupur (ICDS) also observed National Girl Child Day under BPBP today at Panchayat Resource Centre Hall, Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur.

It was attended by DC Bishnupur, L Bikram; CMO Bishnupur, L Raichandra; and ICDS Bishnupur, District Programme Officer, Th Shantibala as presidium members.

As part of the event, certificates and cash awards were handed over to 8 girl students from the district for securing good marks in Class X & XII examinations.

5 selected girls were also awarded for their achievements in the field of sports.
