Independent candidate Haokholet blessed

Kangpokpi, February 16 2022: A traditional blessing was bestowed upon independent candidate Haokholet Kipgen by his maternal grandparents at Laikot village in Kangpokpi district, on Wednesday.

The former minister's maternal grandfather is from the Chonghang (Chongloi & Hangshing) clan.

Earlier, Seitinmang Chongloi, chief of Khengjang village, blessed the candidate at Khengjang.

For the Kukis, grandparents are considered treasure strove of wisdom, love, and success, and hence grandparents' blessing is considered next to God's blessing.

Haokholet s maternal 'grandfathers' from the Hangshing clan - Kaigunlal Hangshing, Kamtinthang Hangshing, Lunpao Hangshing (chief of Khunkho), Haokholal Hangshing(chief of Laikot) organised a traditional blessing programme for him at Laikot village.

As a traditional practice, they killed a pig and organised a feast to seek blessing of the Almighty God for the success of Haokholet.

The traditional and religious blessing programme was led by Rev Seihpao Hangshing.

Haokholet Kipgen is contesting the Assembly election from Saitu AC.

The ceremony was also attended by Joujam Kipgen, wife of Haokholet Kipgen, Neichong Hangshing, the grandmother of the independent candidate apart from other relatives and church leaders.
