PPCM holds consumer awareness prog

Imphal, January 31 2022: Protection and Preservation Committee Manipur (PPCM) organised a consumer awareness programme at its office located at Wahengbam Leikai on Monday.

PPCM convener Maibam Bisheswor, advocate Ch Narendra and assistant controller of weight and measures department G Kumar Kabui attended the awareness programme as presidium members.

Speaking at the event, G Kumar Kabui pointed out that goods are being sold in the markets at lesser weight and consumers are unaware of it.

He then appealed to consumers to inform the department if they come across any unethical practices by the traders dealing in important goods like cement, building materials including steel bar, rice, gas and action so as to initiate punitive measures against the defaulting shops.

PPCM convener Maibam Bisheswor also said that shop owners have long been violating rights of consumers and consumers too need to take utmost precaution while purchasing goods and understand their rights.

Advocate Ch Narendra also talked about consumers' rights at the programme.
