Rich tributes paid to martyrs on Patriots' Day

Bpr/Chd/Kak/Kpi/Spi/ Tpl/Thb, August 13 2022: Remembering the supreme sacrifice of the brave sons of Manipur, who laid down their lives on the gallows for the cause of motherland, Patriots' Day, 2022 was observed across the State today.

BISHNUPUR
District Administration Bishnupur today observed Patriots' Day at the Conference Hall of DC Office in Bishnupur.

Deputy Commissioner Lourembam Bikram led the wreath laying ceremony and paid rich floral tributes to the portraits of Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General.

Speaking on the occasion, Lourembam Bikram stated there is no greater sacrifice than to lay down one's life for the motherland.

Reflecting on the supreme and selfless sacrifices made by Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General during the Anglo-Manipuri War of 1891, the DC said, "Devotedly abiding by the Fundamental Duties as responsible citizens will pave a way in ensuring a better society and brighter tomorrow".

District Information Office, DIPR also carried out "Prabhat Pheri" at various locations of the district today.

Patriotic songs were played through loudspeakers to rekindle the sense of patriotism among the people.

ADM Bishnupur, H Bobby Sharma, DLOs and several district administration staff also paid tributes.

Moreover, JNV Bishnupur celebrated Patriots Day today in remembrance of the brave sons who laid down their lives for their motherland.

To commemorate the victims & suffering of people during the partition of India and Pakistan, JNV Bishnupur also observed "Partition Horrors Remembrance Day" from August 10-14 at Vidyalaya premises with an exhibition displaying historic photographs.

The exhibition was inaugurated by renowned writer, Dr S Lanchenba Meitei, Associate Prof DM University and Dr Mahesh Kumar, Principal of the Vidyalaya.

Patriots' Day was also celebrated at Kumbi College, Moirang Kumam Mandop and Nambol Block Congress Committee Office, Nambol Chingmang.

Moreover, to commemorate Patriots' Day, Lions Club of Moirang, International Association of Lions Club District 322 D planted tree saplings at Hemam Nilamani Lampak and Minor Industrial area road.

CHANDEL
Patriots' Day was also observed at Chandel District Head Quarter today.

The celebration began with laying of wreaths and floral tributes followed by Gun salutes & two minutes silence as homage to the departed heroes of Manipur.

DC Chandel, Mayanglambam Rajkumar; SP Chandel, Pandey Hemant M; Commandant 8th MR, T Thongzapao graced the function.

DLOS, officials and members of different communities of the district also paid floral tributes to the brave sons.

The function concluded with a vote of thanks by ADC Chandel, Md Firoj Khan.

A similar celebration was also held at United College, Lambung.

KAKCHING
District Administration, Kakching observed Patriots' Day today at Open Hall, near NIC Conference Hall, Kakching.

It was attended by DC Kakching, Somorjit Salam, IAS; SP Kakching Shrey Vats, IPS; ADM, A Adahrii Maheo; Additional SPs, SDOs, SDCs, DLOs and staff of DC office Kakching.

Somorjit Salam led the floral tributes to honour the brave sons who made supreme sacrifice.

Patriots' Day was also celebrated at Kha Manipur College Kakching and Library & Information Centre Kakching.

KANGPOKPI
Patriots' Day was observed in Kangpokpi district today in memory of those heroes who sacrificed their fives in Anglo-Manipuri War 1891.The function was organised by District Administration Kangpokpi at DC Office Complex.

Floral tributes were paid by the officials led by DC Kengoo Zuringla to honour the brave sons who made supreme sacrifice for the freedom & sovereignty of the motherland.

Meanwhile, as part of the Patriots' Day observation.

Presidency College Motbung today conducted a seminar on "Modi@20 Dreams Meet Delivery" at the college Jubilee hall.

It was attended by Dr T Gangte, principal Presidency College; BJP Manipur Pradesh secretary, Paokam Haokip; and BJP Sadar Hills president, Thangjamang Kipgen along with teachers and students of the college.

During the event, floral tributes were paid to the freedom fighters; prizes were distributed to winners of Open District Level Competitions conducted from July 15-30.Dr L Rameshwor Singh and Dr N Premananda Singh spoke on the occasion.

SENAPATI
District Administration Senapati also observed the 131st Patriots' Day at DRDA Conference Hall, Senapati.

It was attended by DC Senapati, Mahesh Chaudhari, IAS; Karthik Malladi, IPS, SP Senapati and District Level Officers.

At the event, a brief history of Thangal General and Bir Tikendrajit were also narrated by SIX) Senapati/Purul and SDO Tadubi/Lairouching.

DC Senapati also led the floral tribute and lighting of candles as homage to the martyrs.

TENGNOUPAL
Meetei Council Moreh, All Community Development Organisation Moreh, AMSU Tengnoupal District Committee, Kha Nongpok Apunba Nupi Lup and Nupi Khunai Chaokhat Lamjing Lup jointly observed Patriots' Day today by paying floral tributes to the portraits of Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General. The participants also observed 2 minute silence to honour the martyrs.

THOUBAL
District Administration Thoubal also observed Patriots' Day today at the Counting Hall of DC Complex, Thoubal.

It was attended by DC Thoubal, A Subhash Singh, IAS; SP Thoubal, Jogeshchandra Haobijam and ADM Thoubal, B Lokeshor Sharma as presidium members.

SDOs, SDCs, DLOs and staff of DC office Thoubal also attended the function.

The observation began with floral tributes to the photographs of Thangal General and Bir Tikendrajit led by DC Thoubal.

Prayers by the religious leaders of different faiths were performed as part of the function.

Similar observances were also held at Waikhom Mani Girls' College, Thoubal Okram; YK College Wangjing; Thoubal College; Eramdam Ningol Sanglen (Children Home); Progressive English School Lamding and Sofia English School.

Tekcham Sports & Cultural Organisation also observed Patriots' Day at TSCO Ground near Tekcham Laibung and Manipur Muslim Welfare Organisation (MMWO) Headquarter Hatta Minunthong, Imphal at Lilong Keithel.

All Thoubal District United Club's Organisation (ATDUCO) under the aegis of AMUCO also paid floral tributes at Khongjom War Memorial Complex.

Meanwhile, Keithelmanbi Battalion under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) also organised a wreath-laying ceremony to honour the martyrs of Manipur on the occasion of Patriots' Day in Imphal West district.
