Imphal, August 10 2009:
Of the five Apunba Lup functionaries, arrested earlier, four have been detained under the National Security Act (NSA).
All the five functionaries were produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal today who remanded them to judicial custody for 15 days.

Apunba Lup coordinator Sunil Karam, assistant coordinator Th Surjit, member Dayananda Chingtham and former coordinator Ph Deban have been detained under NSA in addition to the judicial remand according to an order of the Imphal West District Magistrate.
However, L Nganbi has been spared from detention under NSA.
Before being whisked away by police, the Apunba Lup functionaries shouted "Stop fake encounter", "Do Justice" "Long Live Manipur" etc on their way out from the Court.
Speaking to reporters, Deban said "the Khwairamband Market killing of July 23 has hurt us all".
"By detaining us who shouted for fair trial with regard to the killing, the Government has exposed itself to be most incompetent and tyrannic", Deban said.
Deban of Singjamei Waikhom Leikai, Surjit of Singjamei Thongam Leikai and Dayananda of Uripok Bachaspati Leikai was pulled up by a police team led by Imphal West Additional SP AK Jhaljit from the Haobam Marak Irom Leikai residence of L Nganbi on August 5 .
Singjamei police have already registered an FIR case against them under UA (P) Act, Criminal Act and some sections of the IPC.
Imphal West police station has also registered a similar case against Sunil of Ithai.
He was pulled up from his second home at Keishamthong on August 5.All five of them were put in police custody since August 6 till today.
