Imphal, November 01 2009:
The proscribed UNLF has accused the Assam Rifles of eliminating seven innocent persons in a fake encounter at Yairipok Sanapat at about 11.30 pm of October 31 .
It was an act of cowardice committed by 28 AR personnel against innocent civilians after they could not lay their hands on insurgents, the outfit remarked in a press release issued by its senior publicity officer Ksh Yoiheiba.
|
Of the seven individuals slain by AR troops, two have turned to be Oinam Anand alias Girani s/o Yaima and Oinam Maipaksana alias Paakpa s/o O Bhimo who were picked up from their homes.
Local people were even staging protest demonstrations for safe release of the two innocent youngsters.
As it happened that the two of them were innocent civilians, the remaining five unidentified victims would be certainly innocent civilians.
Clothing them in unfit combat fatigues testified that all the seven victims were pulled up from different places and shot dead there in a stage-managed fake encounter, the outfit alleged.
The killing could be an act of taking revenge upon innocent civilians for the heavy casualty suffered by security forces at the hands of MPA at Aibol recently, the outfit conjectured.
