'Manipur proposed road projects worth ₹715 cr'

Union minister of road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari has informed the Parliament that his ministry received proposals for 26 road projects spanning 207.02km which would worth Rs 715 crore from the state of Manipur.
In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, Nitin Gadkari informed that Manipur submitted proposals for 26 road projects spanning 207.02 km till February 28, 2023 and estimated cost of the proposed projects would be Rs 715 crore in total.
For the year 2022-23, the ministry sanctioned Rs 42.10 crore for road development in the state and released Rs 13.81 crore till February 28, 2023.Out of Rs 38 crore sanctioned in the year 2019-20 for the state, Rs 12.64 crore had been released and Rs 13.22 crore out of Rs 35.85 crore sanctioned in the year 2020-21.Out of Rs 36.6 crore sanctioned in the year 2021-22 for the state, Rs 13.43 crore had also been released, the minister informed.
The minister also informed the Lok Sabha that Manipur submitted proposals for 38 projects spanning 341.59km in the year 2019-20 for road development and maintenance under the Central Road & Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) and the projects would cost Rs 263.53 crore.
Out of the 38 proposed projects, the ministry released a total of Rs 131.85 crore for 13 projects spanning 145.29km.In the year 2020-21, Manipur submitted proposals for 23 road projects spanning 283.87 km but there was no release of fund.
Though the state submitted no proposal in the year 2021-22, the ministry received proposals for 26 road projects spanning 207.02km from the state for the year 2022-23 till February 28, 2023 and estimated cost of the projects would be Rs 715 crore, the minister informed, adding that there has been no release of fund for the proposed 26 projects.
