Election to IMC to be held on June 2

The State Cabinet which met today at the Chief Minister's Secretariat with O Ibobi in the chair has fixed June 2 as the day to elect Councillors and Ward Development Committee Members of the Imphal Municipal Corporation.
The Cabinet meeting was held from 3 pm today.
According to Government spokesperson and RD and PR Minister M Okendro, the decision to hold the Municipal election was taken in line with the schedule given by the State Election Commission.
As per the decision taken by the Cabinet today, the draft electoral rolls will be published on April 18.Claims and objections to the draft electoral rolls will be entertained till April 22 and the final electoral rolls will be published on May 2 .
The public notice of the election will be issued on May 12 and the last date of filing nomination papers will be May 17, said the spokesperson.
Scrutiny of the nomination papers will be held on May 18 and the last date of withdrawing nomination paper will be May 17 .
Polling will be held from 8 am till 4 pm on June 2 and repoll, if necessary, will be held on June 4.Counting of votes will be held on June 6 and election related works will wind up by June 10 .
The Cabinet also gave the nod for Manipur to take part in the 24×7 Power For All scheme taken up by the Centre.
The MSPDCL will also work with the Union Ministry of Power to minimise power loss.
