Imphal, July 31 2010: IGAR (S) today claimed that the finance secretary of the proscribed UNLF has been surrendered to the 29 Assam Rifles yesterday along with arms and ammunitions.

A statement of the IGAR (S) today said that the finance secretary of the outfit identified as No.MC 188 Sarangthem Prem alias Lukhoi (38) son of S Nageshorof Huikap Makha Leikai, Yairipok, Imphal East surrendered with a 9mm pistol having a magazine containing seven live rounds of 9 mm.

He surrendered to the officials of the 29 Assam Rifles and OC of Tengnoupal police station, inspector Tomba.

On verification, the individual was found to be a finance secretary of proscribed UNLF group and has been posted to Div-7 .

He joined the militant group in March 2005 and received training at Andro Khunou Hill and involved in extortion of money on behalf of the outfit from Khurai, Singjangmei, Pangei and Wangkhei areas.
