Imphal, November 27 2015 :
What has Manipur achieved in the last 50 years of liberation struggle is one most likely question the people may raise apart from pointing out that it has only brought violence in the society, said the annual statement released by the Central Committee (CC) of the proscribed UNLF.
50 years is a long time in the life span of a human being and also in building an ideal society.
The contradictions between over 30 communities in Manipur have been further deepened by the divide and rule policy of India and other external factors.
UNLF had made it very clear that the people have to overcome all the issues and the success of the liberation struggle may take a long time, said UNLF.
UNLF had also made it clear that that the liberation struggle has to be continued after passing on the objectives to future generation.
However, it is certain that the movement launched by UNLF's founder members who has sacrificed their lives was the correct path and there was a need to restore Manipur lost independence.
ULNF has alleged that in an attempt to suppress the liberation movement, IOF had raped and killed but the people have resisted the attempt.
The movement against such atrocities committed on the people has become an exemplary model in WESEA region.
"Nura Temsingnabi" Irom Chanu Sharmila's silent and singular struggle against violation of rights have also become one of the most strident voices acknowledged by the world.
It will not be wrong to assume that such are the impact of the liberation struggle and this is how the movement has been inherited by the younger generation, said UNLF.
However, it is also important to ponder on what the younger "digital generation" think about the issues on hand.
This generation has not been taught the history, geography and composition of ethnic groups in Manipur, pointed out the statement.
UNLF stated that the digital generation may not be considering what the future will be if they have been drawn into the Indian capitalist economy under capitalist globalization which demands recruitment of IT and MBA professionals.
They cannot but escape deliberating on the future of Manipur as they will have to play a role and serve and work for Manipur's future.
This is why, it has now imperative for the younger generation to take over the liberation movement launched by the founding leaders to protect the nation, to establish an independent nation and to bring about a government by the people, asserted UNLF.
Against the backdrop of the issues discussed, the UNLF Central Committee as part of the annual statement stated that it the collective right for all the people of Manipur to live in self-reliant societies for further development.
"This is our collective goal and collective right", stated UNLF.
The UNLF vowed to continue its struggle towards the attainment of the collective right with all the strength and by establishing true relationship with the people.
On the occasion of UNLF's 51st anniversary, UNLF sent its revolutionary greetings to all the fraternal nationalities suppressed by India in WESEA region and CORCOM members.
UNLF also extended revolutionary greetings to the people of Kashmir who had been reeling under India subjugation and to the Maoist groups who had been fighting the onslaught of Indian Capitalist system.
On the occasion the UNLF also paid respect to all martyrs who had sacrificed their lives for the people, those who had been injured and maimed in the struggle, those who have been incarcerated in enemy prisons and other leaders and wished all victory in the liberation struggle.
