MP Sanajaoba calls for electing sincere representatives
Source: Chronicle News Service

Tamenglong, November 19 2021: Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba on Friday called for electing sincere representatives in the hill districts of Manipur during his public reception programme held at Indoor Stadium, Tamenglong district headquarters.

The event was organised by Tamenglong District Welfare Association.

"We need people-oriented and sincere representatives in the hill districts of Manipur.

Because the legislators, who are elected to serve the people are staying idly most of the time in Imphal, and have failed to redress the grievances of the people.

That is why Tamenglong district is still lagging behind in development in spite of rich natural resources and biodiversity," Sanajaoba said during his public address.

"If there was a committed and sincere representative there would be Tourist spot in Tamenglong district.

Let us awake from our sleep and do something good for our society," the MP further said as he encouraged the youth to join politics and lead the nation.

Sanajaoba went on to say that the NDA government led by Narendra Modi at the centre and the N Biren-led BJP government in the state are giving more focus on the hilly areas of Manipur by spending more than 45 percent in the fiscal budget.

Frequent visits by union ministers to Manipur are a clear example of government's sincerity.

The central government has given more priority to the most backward Tamenglong district and has already sanctioned Rs 90 crore exclusively for both Tamenglong and Noney districts under Hills Area Development Programme.

The present government is equally giving attention to both hills and valley districts by introducing Go to Hill programme, Go to Village programme, CMHT, PMJAY, UJALA schemes, etc, he added.

The programme was also attended by Meinam Bhorot, ex-MLA and former president BJP Manipur Pradesh; Th Yumjao Singh, in-charge BJP Tamenglong District; Huri Golmei, state executive member BJP Manipur Pradesh and other BJP workers of the district.

Speaking at the event, Yumjao stressed the importance of a selfless leader who serves the people and understands their concerns.

Bhorot spoke about the significant of Tharon village and the shared history of Tharon village and the royal family of Manipur through king Bodhchandra, and Sanajaoba revisiting and following the footsteps of his grandfather.

He also highlighted achievements of the Biren government.

BJP intending candidate Huri Golmei stressed the need for Tamenglong people to come together, choose a right leader and bring Tamenglong out of backwardness.

"Tamenglong district has suffered for a long time, our roads are out of shape, basic necessities are beyond our reach, leaders have long left our side.

So, together, let us ensure that Tamenglong is transformed through the upcoming election.

The people are given power to choose their leader once every 5 years.

Let us exercise our right, choose a good leader who loves the people and takes Tamenglong towards a new dawn," he exhorted.
