Active cases dip to 708, one dies

Imphal, October 30 2021: The number active Covid-19 cases has come down to 708 on Saturday as the state reported 221 recoveries, one death case and 59 new positive cases out of 1822 samples tested, registering a positivity rate of 3.24 per cent.

Mention may be made that the TPR fell below 3 per cent on Thursday but spiked back to 4.02 per cent on Friday.

The lone death case reported on Saturday was an unvaccinated resident of Imphal East, which took the total death cases to 1920.Out of the 16 districts, 11 reported Covid cases on Saturday with Imphal West reporting highest cases at 28.In terms of positivity rate, Chandel district recorded highest single day positivity rate at 7.5 per cent while Ukhrul district recorded lowest positivity rate at 0.6 per cent.

Jiribam, Kakching, Kamjong, Noney and Pherzawl districts did not report any new positive cases.

Out of the 708 active cases 87 (12.29 per cent) are in home isolation, 219 (30.93 per cent) in CCCs, and 195 (27.54 per cent) in hospitals while whereabouts of 207 patients (29.24 per cent) are not known as all the CHICs have been shut down.

Among the hospitalised patients, 58 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 37 are on oxygen support and 22 on ventilator support.

However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS even though it has 103 patients.

On the other hand, there are two patients on oxygen support in different CCCs.

There is no updated information regarding bed availability but as of Friday evening, 687 beds including 121 ICU/HDU beds were available in different hospitals, 2758 beds in different Covid Care Centres and 446 beds (30 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.

So far, the state has recorded 94,268 positive cases and 1546 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.

The current month recorded 3084 new cases and 65 fatalities out of which 439 new cases and 13 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.

According to official reports, of the 59 new positive cases, 58 (28 male & 30 female) are from among the general population and the remaining one case of a Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) jawan whose samples were confirmed at RIMS (5), JNIMS (8) and other testing centres (46) .

The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (15), Imphal West (28), Thoubal (2), Bishnupur (3), Chandel (3), Churachandpur (1), Senapati (3), Kangpokpi (1), Tengnoupal (1) and Tamenglong (1) .

All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

In the last 24 hours, 48 patients were discharged from home isolation (10), RIMS (5), JNIMS (6) and CCCs (27) However, 173 already discharged cases were reported only on Saturday and so the total number of recovered cases in the last 24 hours is considered to be 221 .

The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,23,668 (general population - 1,19,336 and CAPF personnel - 4,332).Number of recovered cases is 1,21,040 (general population - 1,16,726 and CAPF personnel - 4,314) and number of active cases is 708 (general population - 695 and CAPF personnel - 13).The recovery rate is 97.87 per cent.

A total of 750 D-type and 74 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, 11,943 vaccine doses were administered on Friday taking the cumulative number of vaccinated persons to 12,47,590 which include 7,02,493 fully vaccinated individuals.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (43,067), Imphal East (27,386), Thoubal (9440), Churachandpur (10,132), Kangpokpi (2780), Tamenglong (3276), Bishnupur (9155), Senapati (2229), Ukhrul (2942), Kakching (6398), Chandel (2332), Noney (1067), Tengnoupal (1057), Jiribam (l02l), Kamjong (922), and Pherzawl (464).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (639), Imphal East (457), Thoubal (173), Churachandpur (160), Kangpokpi (61), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (190), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (39), Kakching (111), Chandel (38), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5), and Pherzawl (0) .

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 39,854 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) agalnst the national average of 24,516 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 4,40,214 tests per million population against the national average of 4,34,244 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.55 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, only 1822 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 3.24 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity came down to 9.05 per cent.
