GoI donates mini Tata to L Pabram

Tamenglong, April 28 2011:
The Government of India through K Panmei, DC Tamenglong today handed over a Mini Tata SFC 407 4x4 to Athanbou Pamei, Chairman Longdi Pabram village of Tamenglong district of Manipur in a simple function held at the office chamber of DC this morning.
Jt Secy (Home) Government of India Shambu Singh was to hand over the vehicle but his visit was cancelled due to bad weather.
Athanbou Pamei, Chairman of Longdi Pabram village and president of Village Authority Chairmen Council, Tamenglong revealed that the Union Home Secretary, GK Pillai had assured the vehicle to the village.
He also revealed that GK Pillai had promised a road link from Tamenglong HQ to Longdi Pabram village via Nagaland.
Athanbou Pamei has close links with Col PDK Pillai.
Longdi Pabram and the Army officer share a tie based on humanity following an encounter between security forces and suspected NSCN- IM cadres in 1994 .
Today's function was attended by C Arthur W, IAS SDO Tamenglong, Hannah MCS SDO Tamei, Joseph Pauline ADM Tamenglong, Col PS Chhonkar SM, Commandant 11 AR, KC Lokho, CO 5th MR, District Level Officers and colleagues of Athanbou Pamei.
Col PS Chhonkar SM, CO 11 AR also spoke on the occasion and narrated the episode of 24 January 1994.Col PDK Pillai had revisited Longdi Pabram village in 2009 and had announced a number of developmental packages.
Col Chhonkar said since than 11 AR has constructed waiting sheds, distributed 10 water tanks, eight solar lamps, and has also constructed a youth centre, a 3 km IVR, etc, and assured to take up other welfare measures.
