Imphal, March 23 2015:
Inriangluang (Tamenglong) Chabuan Phuam (ICP) has on Monday expressed serious concern over the violent confrontation among the Inriangluang villagers arising out of two conflicting parties—Tamenglong Village Authority and Tamenglong Village Council.
"We are also deeply concerned on aggressive seizure of fields and plots of land, kitchen gardens by a few individuals taking advantage of the conflicting situation, thereby adding fuel to the already volatile situation in the area," a statement of Inriangluang (Tamenglong) Chabuan Phuam (ICP) said.
It said ICP strongly urges both parties to exercise maximum restraint and avoid the path of escalating violence that will make victims to ordinary and innocent peace loving villagers.
"We reiterate the necessity of resolving disagreements peacefully through dialogue and in a democratic spirit and doing everything to return to the normal life where wisdom of our forefathers prevails to resolve any differences peacefully and in a very amicable way," it urged.
It also appealed to all the beloved peace loving Inriangluang villagers to reject all forms of violence and all acts of retaliation.
ICP further called upon the concerned authorities to take measures to prevent taking laws in one's hand to ensure security, safety and peaceful environment in the village areas and said that the district administration has its obligations and responsibilities to take steps to ensure safety of live and properties by preventing violence.
