Imphal, March 09 2018:
Alleging that a minor girl of six had been raped, the AMSU has urged the authorities concerned to award befitting punishment to the culprit at the earliest.
Speaking to media persons at their DM College campus office this evening, AMSU coordination and networking secretary Laishrarri Athouba said that the minor girl was raped at a village located within Imphal East district under Lamlai police station at around 3 pm of March 7 .
Huidrom Amusana (45) who is a father of two children enticed the minor girl currently reading in Class I to his house with eatables and allegedly raped the girl.
The matter came to light yesterday when the girl's mother, who became suspicious of her daughter's behaviour, cajoled and asked the girl about what happened to her; Athouba conveyed.
Amusana reportedly threatened the kid that he would kill her if she discloses what was done to her.
After the girl's disclosure, Amusana was rounded by local people and handed over to police.
With registration of a case at Imphal East women police station, medical examination of the girl has also been conducted.
Saying that the AMSU is deeply concerned over the incident, Athouba said that another girl student was raped in the same village earlier.
The failure to award exemplary punishment to the culprit of the first rape case only emboldened other people with criminal tendency to commit such heinous crimes, he said.
As such, Amusana should be awarded exemplary punishment at the earliest, he added.
