State observes 125th birth anniv of Netaji

Imphal, January 23 2022: As in other parts of the country, the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was observed in the state by the government and various organisations on Sunday.

Department Of Art and Culture celebrated Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at INA Martyrs' Memorial Complex, Moirang on Sunday.

The programme was attended by Art and Culture commissioner M Joy Singh as chief guest, director L Keshorjit Singh as president, while DIPR director H Balkrishna Singh and All India Radio Imphal assistant director (News) Gin Gangte were present as guests of honour.

As a part of the programme, prizes were distributed to the winners of a quiz competition conducted in collaboration with All India Radio, Imphal.

A performance of Thang-Ta by Association for Paona Memorial Art and Rural Development Service and Kanglei Shaktam Langba Kanglup along with Basanta Raas by Rhythms of Manipur Creative Music Forward Artists Centre En Camped were shown during the function.

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Dr Mohan Bhagwat also paid floral tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on Sunday at Rajarshi Bhagyachanda Skill Development Centre, Haraorou, Imphal East on the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Speaking during the programme organised by RSS, Manipur Prant; Dr Mohan Bhagwat said that RSS has been observing the birth anniversary of Netaji every year, however, this year's observance is important as it coincides with the 75th year of India's independence for which Netaji sacrificed his entire life.

For this independence, Netaji raised an army and fought against the British.

Netaji is a symbol of courage, nationalism, dedication and selfless sacrifice.

He united all Indians against the British with people from all parts of India irrespective of caste, religion, language, culture and tradition joining his army and fighting against the British rule, he said.

Dr Bhagwat emphasised that following his vision and instilling the spirit of nationalism, unity and sacrifice would be the real remembrance and tribute to Netaji.

Family members of war heroes, Moirang Koireng and Heman Nilamani were also present during the observance.

As part of the observance, a photo gallery of Indian National Army and Netaji's life was put up for public viewing.

The observance was also attended by Akhil Bharatiya leaders Sunil Despande, Assam's Ulhash Kulkarni, Bajur Baruah and others.

Similarly, All India Forward Bloc Manipur State Committee observed 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at Sangrila Park, Heitup Pokpi on Sunday.

The programme marked by paying of floral tribute to the portrait of Netaji was attended by All India Forward Bloc Manipur State Committee state secretary Khomdrom Gyaneshwar, CPI- M secretary Kshetrimayum Shanta, CPI- M secretariat member Sarat Salam, CPI secretary Laishram Sotin, RSP Kangjam Manoranjan and BSP president Ningthoujam Kabita as the presidium members.
