He was speaking during a felicitation function hosted in honour of union minister Bhupendra Yadav, union minister of state Pratima Bhoumik and Assam's minister Ashok Shinghal at the party office at Nityaipat Chuthek, here on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, Biren hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for extending Inner Line Permit System in the state and said that the Modi government has been focusing on the development of northeast region especially Manipur.

Considering the works done by BJP under the leadership of PM Modi, the party would not need aggressive campaign for the 2022 elections.

He further said that NDB has sanctioned Rs 3500 crore under Prime Minister's Har Ghar Jal scheme and 52 per cent of the total households in the state have been provided tap water connection so far.

Several national highway projects are being taken up and several new bridges have been constructed.

Earlier in the day, CM Biren launched 'Nav Bharat Mela', a two-day event organised by Bharatiya Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Manipur Pradesh as part of celebrating the 71st birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at JN Manipur Dance Academy Hall.

Addressing the gathering, CM Biren said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave the approval to extend ILP System in the state in order to protect the indigenous people of the state.

Besides, PM Modi is taking up various initiatives for the state including the National Sports University.

He could be called as a living legend of India if one considers his works, he said.

Stating that all the works of PM Modi carry a vision for a better future, Biren called upon the people of the state to take the opportunity for bringing peace and development in the state.

Union minister Bhupendra Yadav also attended the event and distributed PMJAY cards to some beneficiaries.

The CM and the union minister visited all the 30 stalls run mostly by Common Service Centres where enrolment services under different flagship schemes are provided.

BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra, BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda and BJP secretary (organisation) northeast in-charge Ajay Jamwal, works minister Th Biswajit and BJYM Manipur Pradesh president M Barish were also present at the two-day event, being organised with the stated ob jective to provide benefits of flagship programmes/schemes to the public.

On the other-hand, CM Biren said that the government is working for the welfare of the people with transparency, sincerity and honesty under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas'.

He claimed that there has been a lot of infrastructural development in the last four and half years with the support of the people and maintained that the government is trying its best to improve the rural economy of the state.
