Republic Day full-dress rehearsals held across state

Full-dress rehearsals for the 74th Republic Day parade were held in the state's capital and at district headquarters on Tuesday.
The dress rehearsal for the state level celebration had a total of 89 contingents including police, Manipur Rifles, IRB, Home Guard, cultural groups and students trooping out from the 1st Bn Manipur Rifles parade ground and culminating at the same location after passing through the Kanglapat Road, North AOC and Kangla Fort.
Vehicular movement in Imphal area was affected for some hours due to traffic diversion for the rehearsal.
Ahead of the 74th Republic Day celebrations, a full-dress rehearsal of the Republic Day parade was also held on Tuesday morning at Peace Ground, in Churachandpur district headquarters.
The district administration will celebrate the Republic Day at the Peace Ground by hoisting the tricolour and conducting cultural programmes.
About 21 contingents will participate in the Republic Day parade to be commanded by additional SP (Churachandpur) Pricilla Tuboi.
Commendation certificates and awards will also be distributed to government officials and staff for distinguished service during the event.
For the first time after the ADC office has been established, Republic Day will also be celebrated at Mual-nuam village with additional deputy commissioner S Khaikhopau Ngaihte as the chief guest.
Thoubal district administration also conducted full dress rehearsal of Republic Day 2023 parade on Tuesday at BASU ground near the SP Thoubal office, the venue where the district's Republic Day celebration will be held on January 26 .
In all, 23 march-past contingents, two band parties and five cultural troupes participated in the full dress rehearsal.
Deputy commissioner A Subhash Singh will be the chief guest of the Republic Day celebration.
He will unfurl the national flag and take the salute of the march-past contingents including school students, police, band parties and other cultural troupes.
The district administration appealed to the people of district to come out and witness the Republic Day celebration.
Also in Senapati, a full dress rehearsal by Republic Day march-past contingents was held at Sanyi Dahrii Memorial Sports Complex, Khabung Karong.
In all, 22 contingents including Manipur Police, VDF, 4th IRB, NCC, secondary and college students, ICDS cell and ex-servicemen will be taking part in the march past on January 26 .
The Republic Day celebration will also witness a special item - showcasing of tableaus representing 10 different departments under the district administration after the march past.
Cultural programmes and distribution of prizes and awards will follow after the Senapati deputy commissioner delivers his Republic Day speech.
The programme is scheduled to start by 8:30 am on January 26 .
Under the aegis of Kakching district administration, the full-dress rehearsal for the upcoming 74th Republic Day Celebra tion on January 26 was held at Kakching Sumak Leikai playground on Tuesday.
The formal celebration in district will have deputy commissioner Somorjit Salam unfurling the National Flag and Kakching SDPO Konjeng-bam Gitchandra commanding the march past parade con sisting of 19 contingents of police, NCC, students, club/ association, cultural troupes, departments, etc.
