Thoubal, October 18 2016: With the objective to enhance electoral participation, a special programme on Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) was held today at Thoubal College, a statement informed.

The programme was held under the guidance and supervision of the District Election Officer, Thoubal.

SVEEP Nodal Officer Y Laksman Singh and Thoubal College Principal Dr K Chaoba Devi took key role in organising the programme.

More than 200 students along with four Campus Ambassadors and Associate Professors of Thoubal College took part in today's SVEEP programme.

SVEEP Nodal Officer Y Laksman Singh in his address, pointed out the need to increase electoral participation in Thoubal district through voter registration, increased qualitative voting and democratic election.

IEC materials published by CEO were distributed to all the participants during the programme.

For the better understanding of youths, an open quiz competition on SVEEP was also held today.

To encourage the participants, small gifts were presented to all those who gave a correct answer.

The programme concluded with participants shouting slogan like, 'Our vote – our voice', 'We are ready to vote', 'We are proud to be a voter' etc.

A similar programme was held at Waikhom Mani Girls' College, Thoubal Okram, yesterday, it added.
