HL staffer bags RK Sanatomba Award

Imphal, June 30 2014: The RK Sanatomba Journalist Award 2014, which has been constituted by RK Sanatomba Memorial Trust in memory of late RK Sanatomba, editor of Kangla Lanpung, was presented to Meisnam Karnajit, staff reporter of Hueiyen Lanpao during a solemn function held at Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy hall here today.

The award carries a cash prize of Rs 20, 000; a shawl and certificate and was presented to the scribe by Mangishija, daughter of RK Sanatomba.

Karnajit was chosen for the award for his influential investigative reporting.

Meisnam Karnajit who hails from Haobam Marak Ngangom Leikai is the youngest son of M Ibotombi and M (O) Ramni Devi.

He has already received State Journalist Award 2013 in Public Health & Hygiene category which was presented by Information & Public Relation, Government of Manipur and Best Male Journalist of the Year 2013 given by Kangleipakki Meira, a daily newspaper based in the city.

Apart from presentation of the award, releasing Volume � 8, Issues � 2 of Kangla Lanpung, paying of floral tributes to photograph of the late editor and a talk on 'Violence & Performing Art in Manipur' by Dr Arambam Lokendra were the main highlights of the function, which was also attended by Thounaojam Iboyaima and Gangmumei Kamei as presidium members.
