Sit-in against CAB continues

The series of protest against the Citizenship Amendment Bill continued today with a sit-in at Keinou Thongkhong Community Hall, Bishnupur.
JCILPS convenor Yumnamcha Dilipkumar, co-convenor Md Kheiruddin Shah Moijingmayum, former convenor Arjun Telheiba and CCSK former vice president S Chanu Chingkheinganbi spoke against the Bill at the sit-in organised by Women Welfare Organisation Kangleipak, Apunba Mayai Kaba Chinjak Thingba Lup Keinou and Keinou Thongkhong Welfare Organisation.
At the sit-in, JCILPS convenor Yumnamcha Dilip said that the State Government should have called the all political party meeting earlier.
"The State Government should not have waited for public outcry.
It should have acted against the Bill when it was introduced in the Lok Sabha.
Now, the Government should focus on pressuring the Centre not to introduce the Bill in the Rajya Sabha," he said.
The Bill, he said is an imminent threat to the identity, culture and survival of the indigenous people of the North-East, especially Manipur.
The sit-in displayed several slogans and banners that read "We oppose CAB-2016" and "We oppose Communal Policy" etc.
Yesterday, Oinam Apunba Meira paibi Lup organised a sit-in at Oinam bazar denouncing the Bill.
Meanwhile, a sit-in was also organised at Khumujamba community hall, Churachandpur district.
The sit-in was organised UPF Manipur, Khumujamba CMLYC, YMYC Yaiphacol, TMYC Thigjangphai and NMYC Ngaithal.
Former convenor JCILPS & secretary organisation UCM Ng Deva, vice president UPF N Rupachandra, AMKIL vp L Nganbi, UPF president W Second, advisor Meitei Society Churachandpur N J Raja, Moirangthem Thoiba and president Ima Leimaren Apunba Lup Churachandpur A Nayani took part in the protest.
