Governor Dr Najima Heptulla has appealed to the UNC leaders and its supporters to lift the economic blockade taking into consideration the immense hardships faced by the people and in light of the coming 11th State Assembly General election.
A press release issued today by the Deputy Secretary to the Governor of Manipur, stated that the Governor has expressed deep concern over the immense hardships faced by the people of the State as a result of the economic blockade.
The Governor further pointed out that lifting the economic blockade was necessary to enable the public to exercise their right of franchise freely and fairly in the coming election.
The Governor further appealed to the UNC and its supporters to discontinue picketing Government offices in Naga dominated areas in the hill districts and to resolve all issues through dialogue and peaceful means, it added.
