Imphal, October 19 2014: People working in judiciary especially judges should render their duties with dedication and courtesy considering the value of justice, said Supreme Court Judge Justice TS Thakur.

He was speaking at the inaugural function of a two-day Eastern Zone Judicial Officers' Conference under the theme 'Justice Delivery Mechanism � Role of Judges' being organized jointly by High Court of Manipur and Manipur Judicial Academy at the auditorium of High Court of Manipur here today.

Attending as the chief guest, Justice Thakur asserted that a Judge should be a good listener apart from being honest and added that the profession requires patient and courteous as justice can never be done in anger or hurry.

Justice Anil R Dave, Judge of Supreme Court who was present at the occasion as president said that judicial ethics, conduct and accountability play a vital role in social set up.

Justice Laxmi Kanta Mohapatra, Chief Justice of High Court of Manipur in his welcome address stated that organizing such kind of conference is a great motivating factor and encouragement for the Judges of Eastern Zone Judicial Officers.

In the afternoon session, Justice Hrishikesh Roy, Judge of Gauhati High Court as a resource person presented a paper on the topic 'Judicial Ethics, Conduct, Accountability and Relationship with Lawyers and Litigants' .

Today's inaugural function was also attended by Justice N Kotishwar, Judge of High Court of Manipur.
