Imphal, December 17 2020: Special court (ND & PS), Manipur today convicted two accused in the multi-crores drug seizure case of 2018 from the official quarter of the former Chairman of Chandel ADC at Lamphel.

The former ADC chairman, Lhukhosei Zou and 6 others who were arrested in connection with the drug seizure case were found not guilty and thus order to release by the Judge of the Special Court (ND and PS), Manipur.

Sentence hearing of the two convicts has been fixed on December 21 .

The two persons convicted today in connection with the multi crore drug seizure case are Tung Khan Mung Zou @ Mung Zou @ Aric (19) son of Ginzamuan of Moreh Ward No 2 , Gamnon Veng, Tengnoupal district Manipur presently residing at Mantripukhri, Lamlongei Veiphei Veng, Imphal West and Thangminlung Zou (30) years son of Chinsuanlam Zou of Lunmnual Village, Singhat, Sub-Division, Churachandpur District, Manipur presently residing at Game Village Zone 1, Langol, Manipur.

"The accused No 4 Thangminlun Zou is hereby convicted under section 21(c)/22(c)/29 of the ND PS Act, 1985 and at the same time, the accused No 2 Tung Khan Mung Zou @Mung @ Aric is also hereby convicted under section 29 read with section 21(c)/22(c) of the ND PS Act,1985", the order by Justice W Tonen Meitei said.

On the other hand, all the remaining accused persons including Lhukhosei Zou have been acquitted from the case as the prosecution has totally failed to prove the charges leveled against them.
