JCILPS to initiate stringent agitation

Imphal, July 14 2015 : Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) has threatened it is ready to launch even more intense agitation against the State Government if a tangible decision is not taken during the scheduled Special House Session to be held on Wednesday, July 15 and if a fresh ILPS bill is not introduced and passed in a shortest time possible.

In a statement, JCILPS also honoured the student who had sacrificed his life and others who sustained grievous injuries during protest and shared their pain.

The committee urged for relentless movement against the Government which had mercilessly killed Sapam Robinhood who was taking part in the ILP protest for safeguarding the indigenous people on July 8 last.

JCILPS ardently appealed to all to extend a helping hand in providing medical treatment to all those who have sustained injuries in the protest and also to the aggrieved family of Robinhood.

The committee also expressed gratitude to all individuals who had shown kindness to the family of the deceased student protester.

Business Advisory Committee meeting held
A crucial Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting of the Manipur Legislative Assembly was held on Tuesday ahead of the Special Assembly Session to be held on Wednesday, July 15 .

The meeting mainly dwelt on the agenda to be discussed in the special House Session which is seen as the crucial sitting in view of the people's demand for withdrawal of the controversial Manipur Regulation on Visitors Tenants and Migrant Workers Bill 2015 (MRVT & MW Bill) and introduction of a strong bill to protect the indigenous people.

The State Cabinet on Monday decided to summon this special session against the backdrop of the widespread agitation that Manipur has been witnessing since the past many days over the demand for implementation of ILP system in the State.

The committee meeting also discussed the 15th Report of the BAC that is going to be presented before the House.

Curfew relaxed till 5 pm
The indefinite curfew which was clamped on July 8 will be relaxed on Wednesday from 5 am till 5 pm in both Imphal East and Imphal West districts.

However the prohibitory orders under section 144 CrPC shall remain in force.

It means that assembly of five or more persons and carrying of sticks, stones, firearms and weapons of any other descriptions or objects which can be used as offensive weapons are not permitted.
