Class resumed at most schools in Thoubal district

Imphal, November 03 2009: Class has resumed at most of the schools located in different parts of Thoubal district.This was done following the continuous appeals made by different sections of the society including the resolution adopted at a public meeting organised by Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) at the auditorium of Bheigyachandra Open Air Theatre (BOAT) yesterday that schools should be reopened and class should be resumed immediately.

A team of reporters today visited some schools located in Thoubal district and found class resumed as usual.

Some schools reopened from today while some others had already reopened a few days back.

Some will reopen from tomorrow.

The schools which were found conducting class today are Crescent English High School, Lilong, Senior Abhiram Higher Secondary School, Thoubal, Vision Creative School of Sciences, Thoubal and KM Blooming English School, Khangabok.

Classes were also conducted at Lilong Haoreibi College.

Abdul Ali Govt High Madrassa locate near Lilong Bazar and Progressive English School, Lamding had already started class a few days back.

Students of Class X at Abdul Ali Govt High Madrassa expressed their desire for ending the class boycott agitation immediately.

They appealed to all concerned to make the students learn without any disturbances.

Without learning, it will be difficult for the students to face examination, they said.

Teachers of various schools which were found conducting classes told the reporters that the schools reopened following the decisions taken by Private Schools Development Council, Thoubal district, DESAM and All Manipur Government Recognised Private Schools Welfare Association.

Now classes will go on as usual, the teachers said.

Meanwhile, some schools in Imphal East, Imphal West and Bishnupur districts have also resumed regular class, it is learnt.
