Lok Sabha Elections 2019 : An entire AC in Imphal East to be manned by women today

For the first time in the election history of Manipur, an entire Assembly Constituency in Imphal East district will be manned by women polling personnel.
Moreover, one polling station of this district will also be deployed with personnel with PWDs (Persons with Disabilities) only.
This was announced by Dr Rangitabali Waikhom, District Election Officer (DEO) of Imphal East in a press meet held today in her office chamber at Porompat, Imphal.
The press meet was specifically held to reveal the updated report of the election preparedness and arrangement of the ensuing Inner Manipur 17th Lok Sabha Election which will be held tomorrow April 18 .
Jogeshchandra Haobijam, SP of Imphal East district and Chongtham Nomila Devi, Nodal Officer MCMC, Imphal East were present in the press meet.

Speaking to media persons, Dr Rangitabali said that there will be 55 polling stations to be manned by 275 women personnel.
Out of these, all the 38 PSs of 14-Yaiskul AC will be manned by women personnel.
Among these, the Lizard Library Club Polling Station of the constituency will be a significant one as women armed and unarmed security personnel will be used on top of the women polling officials.
The district has 430 polling stations.
Out of these, 19 will be model polling stations.
The DEO further announced that Imphal East district has a total number of 3,03,992 voters, of which 1,57,908 are female voters and 1,46,059 are male voters.
Also, there are 25 voters that belong to Others category (transgenders).
Lamlong Higher Secondary School (South Wing) Polling Station will be manned by PWDs.
She further added that wheelchairs, braille voter guide will be made available in all polling stations and vehicles for transportation of PWDs voters will be arranged for the poll day.
The district has 1,507 differently abled voters.
The district police has identified 24 Critical Polling Stations and nine vulnerable locations.
To ensure a transparent and peaceful election, 152 polling stations will be webcasted.
SP Imphal East, Jogeshchandra said that adequate security arrangements have been taken up for a smooth and peaceful election, which is often regarded as 'the festival of democracy'.
He added that out of the 430 polling stations, 118 will be manned by Central paramilitary forces, while the rest will be manned by State police and IRB personnel.
DEO Dr Rangitabali appealed all voters to come out and exercise their voting rights without intimidation in a free, fair and peaceful manner.
It maybe noted that today, the district administration has successfully dispersed all the polling personnel to their respective polling stations.
