Imphal, November 19 2009: Reacting to a news report regarding the directive issued to SDOs concerned and fair price shop agents of Senapati district to lift PDS rice from FCS Godown (Sangaiprou), the Fair Price Shop Agents' Association, Senapati district has expressed opposition to the Government move.

In a statement issued by its president KK Tennyson, the Association explained that lifting of PDS rice is the duty of transport contractors and only if the contract agreement is terminated will the Association discuss the matter with the Department concerned.

Regarding the news report stating that PDS rice for Mao and Tadubi Assembly Constituencies would be provided upto June whereas for Karong AC the provision will be upto May, the Association demanded clarification from authorities concerned as to why there is such discrepancy in the allotment.
