Ayushman health mela, free medical camp conducted

Imphal, September 16 2023: Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal on Saturday organized the 11th Free Medical Camp for internally displaced persons (IDPs) at Phayeng High School, Phayeng Awang Leikai, Imphal West.

A release issued by media advisor RIMS informed that the medical camp was conducted in association with Lions Club of Imphal and Rotary Club of Imphal under the joint initiative of "Celebrate Community" .

A team of specialist doctors from Departments of Medicine, ENT, Ophthalmology, Obst.

& Gynaecology, Dermatology, Clinical Psychology, Orthopedic and Pediatrics gave treatments and provided health counseling to around 84 patients during the free medical camp.

The team was flagged off by Vandana Jain, Joint Secretary, NE Division, MoH & FW, Government of India along with Pulkesh Kumar, Deputy Secretary, NE Division, MoH & FW, Government of India; Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director RIMS, Imphal and Prof N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS, Imphal from RIMS Hospital OPD campus.

During the medical camp, Dr W Ranbir Singh, president Non-Teaching Welfare Association (NTEWA) mentioned that RIMS will be organising more free medical camps in the future to support and provide health assistance to IDPs at different places of Manipur.

He also appreciated Lions Club of Imphal and Rotary Club of Imphal for assisting the free medical camp.

Further, foods and other essential items including sanitary pads were also distributed to inmates staying at the relief camp.

The free medical camp was attended by members of Lion Club Imphal, Rotary Club of Imphal, nurses, staff and officials of RIMS, Imphal.

Moreover, Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) Sagolband under the guidance of Sagolband AC MLA RK Imo Singh today successfully conducted an Ayushman Health Mela at Sagolband Ingudam Leirak.

Councilor RK Jiten Singh attended the health mela along with members of local club SILYA.

According to the Medical Officer in-charge, Dr Babina Khomdram, the mela was conducted successfully with free specialist consultations focusing on screening for hypertension, diabetes, and oral and cervical cancer.

Healthcare services along with free diagnostic testing and medicines were provided to about 78 people from the Sagolband area.

ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) IDs were also created for 30 persons during the mela.

Similarly, All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) in association with Women's Provision Committee, Sagolmang today organised a free eye camp at Sagolmang Community Hall.

During the camp, a medical team of Yaima Eye Hospital, Khagempali Pankha Huidrom Leikai, carried out eye screening to about 127 persons and provided free spectacles and medicines.

10 persons diagnosed with Cataract were also taken to Yaima Eye Hospital and operations were conducted.

A team of AMUCO led by president Ph Nando Luwang, secretary general Dr Norendro Thokchom also took part in the camp.
